We have been creating a character for our project and writing our messages to the world about care. We have been discussing some of the issues that arise being a care leaver.
Some issues that are currently ongoing is that York Care Leavers are trying to gain council tax exemption up until the age of 25 as several other councils have given that to young people leaving care in the UK. An exemption would support young people towards independent living and currently York only offer a 25% single person occupancy which anyone living on their own is entitled to.
I am enjoying the project and looking forward to the end product.
